Due to an unexpected water main break, Silk Hope School students will be dismissed at 9:30 a.m. today, Monday, October 13.
We’re taking precautions to keep students and staff safe while in the building without water service.
A makeup date for today’s missed instructional time will be announced soon. At this time, school will resume at the normal time tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14th.

We’re proud to share that Chatham County Schools’ Lead Nurse, Melissa Lassen, serves on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Student Safety and Well-Being, helping shape statewide discussions on youth mental health, school safety, and student wellness.
The Council’s next meeting will take place November 17 at the Juvenile Justice Center in Raleigh, where Chatham County Schools will share information about our Yondr Pouch program and its impact on student outcomes.
CCS piloted the Yondr program during the 2024–2025 school year, ahead of the recent statewide ban on cell phones in classrooms, taking proactive steps to create learning environments focused on engagement, connection, and safety.

Students, families, and staff across Chatham County laced up their sneakers, grabbed their helmets, and hit the sidewalks this morning to celebrate the joy (and health benefits!) of getting to school on foot or wheels.

Most recently, she earned her certification as a North Carolina Environmental Educator, a distinction that required more than 200 hours of dedicated work. Silk Hope School has been blessed to have Wendi join our team last year as a 4/5 science teacher. Since returning to her ESL position this school year, she has hit the ground running by providing weekly resources for staff and pushing into classrooms to offer direct support with any need. Wendi enriches classrooms by weaving environmental learning into her lessons, inspiring students to connect with both language and the world around them.
