A huge congratulations to the West Chatham Concert Band comprised of 5 schools, Chatham Central, Jordan-Matthews, Bennett, Silk Hope, and Chatham middle on their performance at Carowinds earning a Superior Rating, the highest rating obtainable at an adjudicated event for band. A special thank you to our band directors for their hard work and collaboration, giving their students this amazing opportunity. #OneChatham

🏀 Coach Charles Byrd Honored by NCHSAA! Huge congratulations to Seaforth girls’ basketball coach Charles Byrd, named the Region 5 recipient of the Homer Thompson “Eight Who Make a Difference” Award by the NCHSAA! 🙌 Since launching the Seaforth program in 2021, Coach Byrd has led the Hawks to 3 straight regional finals, a state title appearance, and an incredible 102-19 overall record. ✨ Last night, we had the honor of celebrating our 2025 Chatham County Schools retirees at the beautiful Governor’s Club! Surrounded by gratitude and good company, we recognized 33 incredible team members whose dedication and heart have left a lasting mark on our schools. 💙 Together, this year’s retiree cohort represents an incredible 733 years of state service — with 546 of those years served right here in CCS. That’s generations of students impacted, classrooms led, buses driven, meals served, and futures shaped. Congratulations to our May Champions of Character Recipient, Giancarlo Nolasco Ixtabalan from Jordan-Matthews High, for the character word Citizenship and Service to the Community. His nominator said: "Giancarlo Nolasco embodies the core of Citizenship & Service through his unwavering commitment to his community and his proactive approach to tackling critical issues in public education and social justice. Over the past month, Giancarlo has shown exceptional responsibility in several impactful ways. He passionately advocated at the Every Child NC rally, taking the initiative to be the sole student voice, fighting for better funding for our school system and opposing harmful legislation. His stirring speech earned him the only standing ovation of the day, underscoring the power of his advocacy. Giancarlo's efforts were widely recognized, as he was featured in over 10 news outlets and interviewed by more than 5 of them on the same day, amplifying his important message. Additionally, Giancarlo served as a Governor's Page, presenting a policy aimed at securing better funding for students with disabilities, showcasing his commitment to creating inclusive educational opportunities and his ability to influence policy for the betterment of his peers. Actively participating in every event organized by the Siler City Fiesta Committee, Giancarlo has demonstrated his dedication to cultural enrichment and community engagement, proudly celebrating Hispanic heritage. Recognizing the need for student representation, Giancarlo took the responsibility to re-establish a student government at his school, successfully finding a representative for it, reflecting his leadership skills and commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
