Chatham County Schools will be CLOSED for students and staff on Monday, March 16, 2026. There will be no remote learning on Monday. All CCS school buildings/campuses are closed, and all after school events, activities, and athletics are also canceled.

This closure is due to impending severe weather and the anticipated resulting road conditions across the county.

As always, the safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. Please stay safe and dry!

Today, the Rotary Club of Pittsboro and Chatham County Schools helped deliver 75 care packages and handmade fleece blankets to local seniors through Chatham County Aging Services and Chatham County Meals on Wheels, following our Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service project earlier this year. ❤️

Created by students, staff, and community volunteers, these packages are a small way to share kindness and support with older members of our community. #OneChatham #Elevate Chatham

Chatham County Schools had the opportunity to host members of the Chatham County Board of Commissioners for a district bus tour highlighting some of our oldest school facilities. 🚌

During the tour, County Commissioners and Board of Education member visited seven of the district’s oldest school buildings and heard directly from school principals about their daily routines, the unique challenges of older facilities, and the creative ways staff maximize every inch of space to support student learning.

We appreciate our principals for sharing their experiences and leadership, and we thank the County Commissioners for taking the time to see our schools firsthand and learn more about the environments where our students learn and grow each day.

Dr. Anthony Jackson spent Thursday morning connecting with neighbors at Encore at Mosaic, where residents gathered to learn more about Chatham County Schools and the work happening across our district. Sponsored by the Chatham Education Foundation, the event provided a great opportunity for community members to hear directly from Dr. Jackson about our schools, students, and future priorities.

Just as important, the conversation focused on how Encore residents can get involved, from volunteering and mentoring to supporting initiatives that strengthen opportunities for our students. We’re grateful to CEF and the ENcore community for creating space for this meaningful conversation and for their continued support of #OneChatham.

Check out some highlights from George Moses Horton Day, celebrated at George Moses Horton Middle School, in celebration of Black History Month!

Students, staff, alumni, and community members came together to honor the life and legacy of George Moses Horton, an enslaved NC poet whose powerful words made him one of the first African American poets published in the United States.

From the African American Read-In, featuring special guests like NC State Representative Robert Reives, to an inspiring evening program filled with poetry, dance, and a moving performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by the North Carolina Central University Mass Choir, the day was a true celebration of culture and community pride.
