🐆 Jaguars on Safari!

Yesterday, the Principal and Assistant Principal of North Chatham Elementary School hit the road for a special “Jaguar Safari,” surprising students and families with poolside meet & greets across the community! 🌊☀️

From Nature Trail to Amberly, the safari brought school spirit, gifts, and even prizes to lucky jaguars. 🎉 Families had the chance to meet school leaders, connect with one another, and get excited for the start of the new year.

Thank you to everyone who came out — NCE is ready for a roaring 2025–2026 school year! 💙💛

📵 Cellphone Use in Schools: A New Chapter for NC Students 📚

In response to House Bill 959, signed by Governor Josh Stein, North Carolina public schools are required to implement policies that limit student cellphone use during instructional time by January 1, 2026.

At CCS, we're ahead of the curve with our Yondr Pouch program — ensuring classrooms remain focused and distraction-free. Students in participating schools lock their phones in secure Yondr pouches from arrival until dismissal each day. This initiative supports a better learning environment and helps build healthy tech habits.

🚨 Need to reach your child during the school day? Emergency contacts can still be made through the school office.

Learn more about our Yondr policy and how it aligns with state guidelines at https://www.chatham.k12.nc.us/page/yondr-pouch-pilot-program 📚

⚓️ Perry Harrison Elementary was recognized as a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP). The RAMP designation recognizes schools that are committed to delivering an exemplary school counseling program. PHE was one of only 18 schools recognized from NC and there were 190 schools overall.
In addition, PHE School Counselor Leann Muñoz, was invited to present on a panel with 3 other school counselors in a session - RAMP Begins with the ASCA National Model. Amazing job Mariners! #RAMP25 #OneChatham @WeAreASCA
