Chatham County Schools will be CLOSED for students and staff on Monday, March 16, 2026. There will be no remote learning on Monday. All CCS school buildings/campuses are closed, and all after school events, activities, and athletics are also canceled.
This closure is due to impending severe weather and the anticipated resulting road conditions across the county.
As always, the safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. Please stay safe and dry!

During the tour, County Commissioners and Board of Education member visited seven of the district’s oldest school buildings and heard directly from school principals about their daily routines, the unique challenges of older facilities, and the creative ways staff maximize every inch of space to support student learning.
We appreciate our principals for sharing their experiences and leadership, and we thank the County Commissioners for taking the time to see our schools firsthand and learn more about the environments where our students learn and grow each day.

Just as important, the conversation focused on how Encore residents can get involved, from volunteering and mentoring to supporting initiatives that strengthen opportunities for our students. We’re grateful to CEF and the ENcore community for creating space for this meaningful conversation and for their continued support of #OneChatham.

If you visit Central Services, take a moment to enjoy the incredible work created by our talented students! #OneChatham #ElevateChatham
""Mrs. Brower is truly exceptional. She teaches our AVID cohort while also leading the AIG program and coordinating schoolwide testing, all with remarkable organization and care. She is incredibly helpful, deeply dedicated to student success, and a strong advocate who consistently goes above and beyond for both staff and students. Mrs. Brower greets everyone with a warm smile and a willingness to help, creating a positive and supportive environment throughout our school.
We are incredibly fortunate to have had Mrs. Brower as part of the Chatham Middle School community for the past nine years, and we look forward to her continued leadership in strengthening CMS culture and advancing schoolwide academics in the 2025–2026 school year." #OneChatham #ElevateChatham #CMSRamily

We truly appreciate her taking time to speak with our students. We are grateful for Senator Murdock's continued support of Chatham County Schools.

4th and 5th-grade students from across the district came together in harmony for a truly special evening of music and community. We are so proud of their hard work and beautiful performance.
Special thanks to guest clinician Jeremy Tucker of the Wake County Public School System for directing our students! #OneChatham #ElevateChatham

Students, staff, alumni, and community members came together to honor the life and legacy of George Moses Horton, an enslaved NC poet whose powerful words made him one of the first African American poets published in the United States.
From the African American Read-In, featuring special guests like NC State Representative Robert Reives, to an inspiring evening program filled with poetry, dance, and a moving performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by the North Carolina Central University Mass Choir, the day was a true celebration of culture and community pride.
