👟📚 Students at Virginia Cross and North Chatham are participating in the Walk Across NC Challenge! This challenge allows students to integrate math, physical activity, and social studies while learning about North Carolina one step at a time. Using pedometers, they track their steps, convert them into miles, and see how far they can go across the state! #OneChatham

🎉 Meet Bonlee School's dynamic trio: Colin Palmer, Waylon Bryant, and Makenzie Gregory! These outstanding students have been named Chatham County Schools' January Champions of Character for exemplifying COLLABORATION! As January's Champions of Character, they SHINE both in and out of the classroom. Their nominators shared, “This dynamic trio exemplifies collaboration in the classroom and extracurricular activities. They take the initiative to ensure every task is completed and are well-respected by their peers.” 🌟 They pack and distribute 40 weekly food bags for families in need. 🌟 They volunteer during recess and lunch to serve others. 🌟 They coordinate concessions for sporting events while excelling academically. After consulting with local DOT and emergency management personnel this decision was made due to expected below-freezing temperatures, lingering moisture, and possible black ice. Last night, Margaret B. Pollard was buzzing with activities! Amazing artworks lined the main entrance at the Winter Art Show, and the chorus proved that "Musicals Make Magical Moments". The chorus entertained the audience with a medley of icon songs from musicals such as Wicked, Mary Poppins, and Hamilton. #OneChatham

On Tuesday, the Chatham County School Board held its Mid-Year Retreat, focusing on CTE Pathways, innovative practices, and community partnerships. See our Board members in action! Three of our amazing CTE educators provided hands-on experiential learning opportunities. Board members made guacamole, built birdhouses, and created slogans to market succulents grown by CCS horticulture students. Chatham County Schools will dismiss early on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:30am. All after-school activities and athletic events have been cancelled. Additionally, all school activities including athletics are canceled for Saturday, January 11, 2025. This decision was made after consultation with the National Weather Service, local NCDOT, and Emergency Management personnel and is based on the impending winter storm.
