During a recent staff meeting, the Chatham Education Foundation (CEF) surprised teachers at Bonlee School with CEF Teaching Grants, and Bonlee received the most grants awarded in the Fall 2025 cycle! 👏

CEF Teaching Grants support original, innovative projects designed to enhance student learning and align with classroom curriculum. Grants are awarded based on a project’s scope, impact, and feasibility, helping educators bring creative ideas to life with funding typically ranging from $100 to $1,000.

Congratulations to the Bonlee educators whose dedication, creativity, and commitment to student success continue to make a lasting impact. We’re grateful to CEF for investing in our teachers and classrooms across Chatham County. #OneChatham #ElevateChatham

✨ CONGRATS to our December Champions of Character, Zimeen Smith from George Moses Horton Middle School. His nominator said, "I am honored to nominate Zimeen for the Perseverance Award. Throughout his time at our school, Zimeen has demonstrated extraordinary determination and resilience. He has faced numerous challenges in his learning journey, yet he has never allowed those challenges to define him or hold him back. Instead, he consistently shows up with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and an unwavering commitment to improving his academic skills. From 5th grade to 8th grade, the growth Zimeen has made is truly remarkable. He has pushed himself academically, showing steady progress and a genuine desire to learn. Even when things felt difficult, he refused to give up—always giving his best effort and embracing every opportunity to grow. This year, Zimeen extended that same perseverance beyond the classroom by working extremely hard and earning a spot on the school basketball team. His dedication, both academically and athletically, is a powerful reflection of his resilience and determination.
Zimeen is a model of what it means to persevere, and I am proud to recognize his incredible progress and unwavering spirit." #OneChatham #WildcatWay
