Congrats to our April Champions of Character Winner - Clara Jane (CJ) White from Perry Harrison Elementary! The character word for April was respect/compassion. Her nominator said: "CJ is a model of Respect and Compassion. Without prompting or personal gain she spent months crafting creatively designed homemade "Stanley cups" for every staff member at Perry Harrison School as a gift of respect and appreciation for the years she has spent here as a student. She was careful to include the entire staff, noting appreciation for all members of the team, support staff to teachers and school leaders. She showed grit and determination to stick with such a huge undertaking, and compassion beyond her years by including not only her own teachers, but appreciation for the whole community who work together as a team to keep our school running smoothly. This project was huge, but it was only one example of how CJ carries herself. She is kind, thoughtful, inclusive, and compassionate to her fellow students, respectful to staff and peers, and a model student in our community. We are very proud to call her a Mariner. Mr. Gary Leonard, Chair of the Chatham County Schools Board of Education, also joined in to volunteer alongside the Chatham Education Foundation team, making it a truly special day for our students. #OneChatham

🎨 High school artists from across the district came together for the One Chatham Arts Day last week! Students from all four high schools came together for a special day of artistic exploration by learning how to etch jewelry with real metal tools and felted wool. Thanks to our amazing clinicians Melanie Jackson and Kristi Eskelund for helping our students explore new art mediums!
