We proudly celebrated the 10th Grade Moving Up Ceremony at Chatham Early College!

This milestone represents more than academic achievement; it reflects the growth, leadership, and character our students demonstrate every day. As they continue their academic journey, we hope they continue to recognize the positive influence they have on their peers, families, and community. Their voices and determination truly make a difference. #OneChatham #ElevateChatham

🖍️ Pre-K enrollment OPEN to families for Chatham County Schools! ✏️
Families can apply online for the 2026–2027 school year and secure a spot for your student in our 5-star Pre-K programs. Pre-K classes follow the school calendar, with financial assistance options available for qualifying families.
Pre-K is available at the following school sites:
Bennett (also available for 3-year olds)
Chatham Grove
North Chatham
Perry Harrison
Pittsboro
Siler City
Virginia Cross

Our Pre-K classrooms require a minimum enrollment of 16 children to remain open. Enrollment is considered complete once all application materials have been submitted. To help us thoughtfully plan staffing and prepare for the upcoming school year, we ask that applications be submitted by June 15, allowing staffing decisions to be made by July for the upcoming school year.

If a classroom does not reach the required enrollment and must close, we are committed to supporting families through this transition. When possible, we will offer placement at another school site with available space. For families enrolled in NC Pre-K, we will also work closely with the Partnership for Children to help identify placement at another licensed child care center. Families are encouraged to complete the enrollment process as early as possible.

On May 6, 2026, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction notified us about a cybersecurity incident affecting staff and student data within the Canvas product. Canvas, owned by Instructure Inc. Canvas is a part of North Carolina’s statewide learning management system. In Chatham County, Canvas is used primarily in high schools, and in some middle grades classrooms.

On April 25, 2026, Instructure experienced a cybersecurity incident perpetrated by a criminal threat actor. Instructure detected the attacker on April 29 and immediately revoked the access. On April 30, as the investigation expanded, they revoked additional suspicious access and addressed underlying system vulnerability. Instructure has found no indicators of an ongoing threat.

What information was involved?

Based on the information provided, it appears that names, emails, Infinite Campus ID numbers were exposed for both students and staff. There is no indication that passwords, dates of birth, government identifiers, or financial information were involved in the breach.

We will provide further information on what data was accessed as it becomes available.

As additional information is shared by Instructure and the NC Department of Public Instruction, we will update this page accordingly.

For more information, visit Instructure’s website: https://status.instructure.com/

⭐️ Congratulations to our April Power of One recipient, Deputy Herbie Stubb, Seaforth High School's SRO! His nominator said:

"Deputy Stubbs is the SRO at Seaforth High School and exhibits a level of connectedness with students and staff that is both encouraging and uplifting. Deputy Stubbs has proven to be the kind of leader and law enforcement officer who puts the needs of others first. Recently, Deputy Stubbs was recognized for helping to save the lives of swimmers at the beach. His responsiveness and to their needs and willingness to do whatever it takes to help and save others is what we see regularly in our building and with the staff and students at our school. He is deserving of this recognition for leading boldly and courageously and positively impacting the lives of others.:
