Today, Jordan-Mathews joins communities across the nation in recognizing Juneteenth, a day of reflection, remembrance, and celebration of freedom. Juneteenth (a blend of "June" and "nineteenth") is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.

Our Carpentry 1 students have been hard at work designing, budgeting, and building these incredible projects from start to finish. Every item was handcrafted by students who learned valuable construction, teamwork, and project management skills along the way.

We hope the weather cooperates and we are able to celebrate with everyone in person on June 6th, but in the event of bad weather each senior will be given four tickets for graduation inside our gym.

In response to the events of May 1 and out of continued support for our students, staff, and school community, Friday, May 22nd, has been changed to a HALF-DAY schedule for Jordan-Matthews High School. If you are interested in state education issues, advocating on behalf of your peers and serving as an advisor to decision-makers in K-12 education, this council is for you! As a member of the Student Advisory Council, you will meet virtually each month and serve a two-year term that concludes at the end of your senior year.
