This week, our 5th Grade Science classes had an exciting opportunity to take part in a special virtual lesson with Reef Relief! Students explored the fascinating world of coral reef ecosystems, learning about their importance, the challenges they face, and how we can help protect them. The experience wrapped up with an engaging Q&A session, where students asked thoughtful questions and connected directly with Reef Relief staff. 🌊🐠

Our Kindergarten students became tree experts in EL Module 3! They created an informational collage to demonstrate their expertise about a tree, its needs, and the animals it provides food for. 🌳🌳🌳

We are thrilled to share that Mrs. Krystin Brice is our 2026 Chatham Grove Elementary Instructional Assistant of the Year! Mrs. Brice is always ready to lend a helping hand and consistently goes above and beyond to support both our students and staff. We are so grateful for her dedication and the positive impact she makes every day!

Rising Kindergarten parents/guardians can learn more about Kindergarten at our Rising Kindergarten Parent Orientation on Wednesday, May 6th. There are two sessions. Please plan to attend only one session. Session 1: 4:00-5:00 // Session 2: 5:00-6:00

Excited to cheer on our very first Quiz Bowl team—proudly calling themselves the “Gator Nuggets”! They’re competing in the NCASA Elementary Virtual Quiz Bowl League, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see them take on their first match this week. Way to go, Gator Nuggets—congrats on an awesome start! 🎉🐊🧠✨

CGE Alert: CCS will be CLOSED for students and staff on Monday, March 16, 2026. There will be NO remote learning on Monday. All CCS school buildings/campuses are closed, and all after school events, activities, and athletics are also canceled.

We were excited to welcome members of the M. B. Pollard 8th Grade Service Club to our 2nd and 3rd Grade classrooms this past Friday morning! Our younger Gators loved spending time learning, working, and connecting with the middle school volunteers. The Service Club members were fantastic role models, and their kindness and enthusiasm made the morning extra special for everyone involved. 🧡💚

Our Gators were proudly recognized at this month’s Board of Education Meeting! Celebrating Keaton Jett, our CCS Spelling Bee Runner-Up — an incredible achievement! We’re also excited to share that, based on 24-25 student performance results, 8 CGE teachers received state performance bonuses for their outstanding student outcomes. Way to go, Gators! 🎉🐊

Congratulations to Levi R. for taking 1st Place in the 5th Grade conservation poster contest sponsored by Chatham Soil and Water Conservation. The theme for 2025-2026 was, "We All Live in a Watershed". Way to go Levi! 🎉🏅

Our 5th graders had an incredible opportunity to participate in an Artists-in-Schools residency with EbzB Productions through a partnership with @chathamartscouncil !

During this impactful experience, students engaged in a 5-day workshop that connected theater and civil rights history—bringing powerful stories to life through performance, discussion, and creative expression.

We are so proud of our students for their thoughtful participation, collaboration, and enthusiasm throughout the week. Experiences like this deepen learning, build empathy, and inspire young voices to shine!

We are incredibly proud of our 4th and 5th grade students who participated in this year’s All County Chorus! Our students joined fellow singers from across the district for a special day dedicated to music, collaboration, and growth. Under the direction of a talented guest clinician, they spent the day rehearsing and refining their performance skills before taking the stage for a beautiful evening concert. Their hard work, focus, and enthusiasm truly shined through. Congratulations to our amazing young vocalists for representing our school so well and sharing their voices with the community! 🎵👏

Today, we had a special visit from the talented Pollard Jazz Band! Our 5th grade students had the opportunity to hear an amazing live performance and learn all about what it’s like to join band. The musicians introduced each instrument, demonstrated how they sound, and shared what makes each one unique. Our 5th graders got an up-close look (and listen!) at the many exciting options available to them.
