Mrs. Thurman’s Bonlee ECS class visited Chatham Central High to get a sneak peek at high
school life! Thanks to Mrs. Dunn, Mrs. Keck, Mrs. Moore, and Mrs. Dowd, students teamed
up with peer buddies for a fun day of hands-on activities including a relay course, face painting, tie-dyeing T-shirts, and painting kindness rocks. These stations, led by high school students, gave everyone a chance to connect, collaborate, and have fun.
A highlight of the day was learning how the Chatham Central “Bear Necessities” Coffee Cart operates. Middle school students worked alongside their high school peers to take coffee orders, make deliveries, greet customers, and practice essential workplace communication skills. This real-world learning environment helped reinforce academic concepts like math and measurement, while also building confidence in social and communication skills.—all essential
for future success. This amazing collaboration helps ease the transition for students with special needs and builds confidence, community, and real-world skills! This partnership exemplifies the district’s commitment to preparing all students for lifelong success and serves as a powerful reminder that we are one community of learners.
