Mrs. Thurman (Bonlee) and Mrs. Dunn (CCHS) received a Chatham Education Foundation grant for their project, *"Furry Friends, Cozy Covers,"* designed to engage special education students in meaningful, community-focused work. Students with diverse disabilities will make fleece blankets for the Chatham County Animal Resource Center, fulfilling a local need for pet supplies. This project not only allows students to contribute to their community but also supports essential transition skills as they prepare for grade-level advancements. The activity, centered on students’ love for animals, enhances fine motor skills and fosters responsible citizenship, showing students how their actions can positively impact the world. The AIG/Advanced Learning referral window is open until January 6, 2025. Referrals can be submitted by parents/guardians, teachers, and students; students may refer themselves. A signed referral/permission to test form must be received from the parents/guardians before testing can commence.
