Chatham County Schools Announces Mrs. LaShonda Hester as Interim Chief Human Resources Officer
PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. LaShonda Hester as Interim Chief Human Resources Officer, effective July 1, 2026.
Mrs. Hester, a native of Chatham County and proud graduate of Chatham Central High School, currently serves as Director of Middle Schools for Chatham County Schools. She previously served as Principal of Margaret B. Pollard Middle School and has held multiple leadership roles throughout her educational career.
In her new interim role, Mrs. Hester will oversee the district’s human resources functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, professional development, compliance, and initiatives designed to strengthen organizational culture and support employees across the district.
“Mrs. Hester is a highly respected leader whose deep roots in Chatham County and proven track record make her an excellent choice for this role,” said Dr. Anthony D. Jackson, Superintendent of Chatham County Schools. “Her experience as a school and district leader, combined with her unwavering commitment to students, staff, and community, will serve our district exceptionally well during this transition. She understands the importance of building strong relationships, supporting employees, and ensuring that Chatham County Schools remains a destination district for outstanding educators and staff.”

Mrs. Hester earned her Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and her Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina Central University. Throughout her career, she has consistently demonstrated strong instructional leadership, operational effectiveness, and a steadfast commitment to supporting students and employees.
