PITTSBORO, N.C. — Northwood High School’s a cappella group, Pitch Please, showcased their exceptional talent at the 2026 A. Craig Phillips Superintendent of the Year Award Ceremony, held in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The group was invited to perform during the prestigious statewide event, which honors outstanding leadership and excellence in public education. Their performance highlighted not only their musical skill and artistry but also the vibrant arts programs thriving within Chatham County Schools.
Under the direction of Michael Cohn, Northwood’s choral teacher, Pitch Please delivered an inspiring performance that earned enthusiastic applause from educators, administrators, and state leaders in attendance.
“We are incredibly proud of these students for representing Chatham County Schools with such grace, talent, and professionalism,” said Superintendent Dr. Anthony D. Jackson. “Their performance was a reminder of how the arts bring our communities together and elevate education beyond the classroom.”
Northwood High School Principal Wynne Youngblood echoed those sentiments, adding, “Pitch Please embodies the spirit of Northwood — dedicated, creative, and full of heart. Their performance was nothing short of spectacular, and it was an honor to see them shine on such an important stage.”
The A. Craig Phillips Superintendent of the Year Award is presented annually by the North Carolina Association of School Administrators (NCASA), the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA), and the North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association (NCSSA).
