Chatham County Schools Launches 2025–2026 Academic Year with Districtwide Convocation
PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County Schools officially launched the 2025–2026 school year with a spirited convocation event on Tuesday, August 19, at Seaforth High School. The annual gathering, which brings together every district employee, set the tone for the new year under the theme “Elevate Chatham: Rising Together for a Stronger Future.”
The morning was filled with energy and community pride as high school cheerleaders, marching bands, School Resource Officers (SROs), and other community partners came together to celebrate the start of a new year. One of the highlights included a special performance from the CCS Staff Directors Band, showcasing the talents of district leaders in the arts, beyond their day-to-day roles.
Superintendent Dr. Anthony D. Jackson welcomed employees and community members with a message of unity, growth, and purpose. “Convocation is more than a celebration,” Dr. Jackson said. “It is a reminder that together we can elevate our schools, our students, and our community to even greater heights.”
As part of the celebration, the annual Spirit Award was presented to Virginia Cross Elementary School for their outstanding enthusiasm and participation, reflecting the district’s commitment to teamwork and shared success; they proudly hold this title until next year’s convocation.
Teachers are back to school preparing their classrooms across the district this week, convocation served as both a celebration of accomplishments and a call to action for the year ahead. Tuesday, August 26 is the first day of school for students.* Chatham County Schools looks forward to a year of elevating student success, empowering staff, and strengthening community partnerships.
