Chatham County Schools Announces New School-Level Leadership Appointments for 2025–2026
PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County Schools is excited to announce a series of leadership appointments for the 2025–2026 school year. Each appointee is a current leader within the district who will transition into a new role, bringing deep knowledge of our schools, students, and communities. These internal moves reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to cultivating leadership from within and ensuring continuity in school culture and instructional excellence.
The following school leaders will assume their new roles effective July 1, 2025:
Ms. Nissa Bennett Wells has been named Principal of Bonlee School
"Bonlee holds a special place in the heart of this district, and I’m honored to lead a school with such strong traditions and a tight-knit community. I look forward to working alongside our exceptional staff and families in this new capacity, and to continue creating a warm, student-centered environment where every learner can thrive."
Dr. April Burko has been named Principal of Chatham Early College
“I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Chatham Early College community. I look forward to working with staff, students and families to continue the tradition of academic excellence.”
Mr. Justin Sudol has been named Principal of Chatham Middle School
"It’s an incredible privilege to join the Chatham Middle School community as principal. I’m excited to build on the school’s legacy of a rich culture and inclusive support, and I look forward to partnering with our staff, students, and families to shape a school environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and empowered."
Mr. Adam Lutterloh has been named Principal of Jordan-Matthews High School
“I am thrilled to be part of the Jets community. Our school has a rich legacy of excellence, and I am honored to join the students, educators, parents, graduates, and other stakeholders of Jordan-Matthews High School. I am grateful to Dr. Jackson and the Chatham County Board of Education for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to working together to achieve great things for our Jets.”
Ms. Nikki Murchison has been named Principal of North Chatham Elementary School
“I am honored to serve as the next principal of North Chatham Elementary. I’m excited to partner with our dedicated staff and supportive community to continue our work creating a nurturing, high-achieving environment where all students can thrive.”
