PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County Schools (CCS) is proud to announce that Brittany Caddell, Exceptional Children (EC) Chair and 5th grade educator at George Moses Horton Middle School (GMH), has been selected as the district’s Fall 2025 Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence.
Principal Bradyn Robinson, who nominated Ms. Caddell for the honor, praised her exceptional leadership, deep compassion, and steadfast commitment to the success of all students.
“Mrs. Caddell exemplifies educational excellence in both her role as Exceptional Children Chair and dedicated 5th grade educator,” said Robinson. “Her unwavering commitment to student success is evident in her selfless approach to education, she advocates for and nurtures each student with the same devotion she would show her own children.”

She founded and leads the GMH Steppers Step Team, offering students creative outlets and opportunities to develop confidence, teamwork, and school pride. As EC Chair, she also leads the school’s Exceptional Children Professional Learning Community (PLC), ensuring compliance standards are not only met but exceeded.
Her leadership has translated into measurable results. Under Ms. Caddell’s guidance, EC students at George Moses Horton Middle School recently exceeded growth expectations, a reflection of her individualized, student-centered approach.
“Ms. Caddell’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement sets a powerful example for her colleagues,” said Ms. Lessley Saenz-Mader, Director of Exceptional Children's Services and AIG for Chatham County Schools. “She represents the very best of what it means to educate and advocate for the whole child.”
Ms. Caddell’s dedication to lifelong learning, leadership in inclusive education, and holistic approach to supporting students both academically and personally have made her a standout among educators across the district.
