What an AMAZING week at Moncure 🎉✨
Our Panthers had the incredible opportunity to dive into Everyone Stop and Read with some very special guest readers!
A huge heartfelt THANK YOU to our wonderful Community Partners, our very own Superintendent Dr. Anthony Jackson, School Board Member Ms. Del Turner, and our Chatham County Schools Executive Directors for taking time out of their day to come read with our Panthers! Your presence means the world to our students and our school family!
And that's not all — our 7th-grade Panthers took learning BEYOND the classroom this week, exploring the school to discover the circumference and diameter of circular objects in the real world! 🔵📐 Math just got a whole lot more exciting!
This is what learning looks like when a community comes TOGETHER.
We are so proud of our students, our staff, and everyone who continues to pour into Moncure!
🐾 LET'S GO PANTHERS! 🐾

🎉 Principal for the Day at Moncure School! 🎉
One of our Moncure Core Values is We are Student-Focused, and this week we're living that value in a BIG way!
Students who helped us reach our fundraiser goal are getting the incredible opportunity to be Principal for the Day! All week long, these amazing students will work through a real Principal's task list and experience what it's like to lead our school.
Today, we had the privilege of having Kindergarten students as our Principal for the Day! 👏 Take a sneak peek at our youngest leaders in action and see what being student-focused truly means at Moncure.
We're so proud of all our students who contributed to our fundraiser success and are now stepping up as leaders. Stay tuned for more Principal for the Day highlights throughout the week!

What a special day for our K-2 students! We were thrilled to welcome local author Vickie Hannah, who shared her two wonderful children's picture books about animals with our young readers.
The best part? Each student received TWO books to take home and keep! 🎉
A huge thank you to the Chatham Education Foundation and Chatham Reads for making this possible and helping us get books into the hands of our students. Moments like these foster a lifelong love of reading! 💙

This week, Moncure School partnered with Chatham Reads to celebrate the 106th Children’s Book Week with our 4th graders. On Thursday, Chatham Reads held an event at the Library to showcase author Dav Pilkey and his popular series, Dog Man. Students in 4th grade came and watched an interview with Dav Pilkey, played a few fun games, heard a great story about two characters from Dog Man, and left the event with a free book by Dav Pilkey. In addition, students were told the exciting news that the Chatham County Public Libraries and Hoops Pizza are bringing back the “Book It” reading challenge ( No Pizza for Pages) from the 1980s. Now, our 4th-grade students can read ten books, fill out a reading log for each book during library class, and once all students have returned their logs to Mrs. Norman, she will contact Chatham Reads, who will return to school with personal pizzas from Hoops for each student. We would like to thank Chatham Reads for their support. As all students in Moncure will have the opportunity to participate in this reading challenge, more information will be sent home soon.

So much to be excited about:

Moncure School is experiencing a power and phone outage. The District is in communication with the utility providers to remedy the situation.
Should you need to contact the school by phone, please call Central Services at 919-542-3626.
School will remain on a regular schedule, and will complete the day and dismiss at our normal time.
All afterschool activities have been cancelled.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
