Good Evening Mariner Families,

We hope you all had an amazing week this week! We celebrated character awards this week, bus drivers, and had a wonderful faculty meeting! Thank you to our PTA representatives who came to have small group discussions with teachers about what they need.

 New Announcements

Attendance Reminders

Per the CCS student rights and responsibilities handbook, when a student must miss school, a written excuse signed by a parent or guardian must be presented to the student’s teacher on the day the student returns after an absence. Absences due to extended illnesses may also require a statement from a physician.

Please notify teachers of an absence due to illness via email prior to 8:00 am so that attendance can be entered accurately. We will accept a written note requesting that the record be amended if you forget to send an email. After 2 consecutive absences, we will ask for a doctor’s note.

Counseling Updates

This week using the Zones of Regulation, students listened to the story "A Little Spot of Love" and discussed how to do a better job showing love and kindness at school. Ask your student to tell you what is their favorite to show love. You can also ask them how they like to receive love and kindness.

PTA News

Have you made a donation yet for the Thrift Shop Supply Drive to help your child's grade level win a popcorn party and earn volunteer hours for our school?   Through February 23rd, you can send in items like large trash bags, packing tape, batteries, cleaning supplies, and tissues or purchase supplies from our Amazon wishlist.   Don't forget to include your receipt with your child's name and the grade level or department you want to support, as one volunteer hour is earned for every $7.50 in supplies donated.  We'd love to fill our Thrift Shop work groups this month, too, so sign up here for February 21st or 25th.  Thank you for your support, as more thrift shop volunteer hours equals more money for Perry Harrison!

Library Updates

Do you have a student who loves to write? We are excited to announce the Young Authors Program. This is a county wide program in which students can submit stories to be published online. Students can also participate in a county-wide writing contest.  Information about the program can be found at this website: CCS Young Authors

We are excited to announce that our school will be kicking off our One School, One Book program with an assembly on February 29th at 5:30. This program will provide every student with a book to read with their family! Join us at our kickoff for the big book reveal!

Your child has already received any "instant" keychain thank you gifts that they earned! All other gifts will arrive in about 3 weeks.

Ms. Bowling will also be scheduling a SLIME TIME when every student in the school will have the opportunity to turn her into a big blob of Slime!
