Good Evening Mariner Families,

We hope you all had an amazing week this week! Our students enjoyed an amazing cultural assembly, see details here, courtesy of our PTA! Thank you to our PTA for supporting experiences for our students at Perry Harrison!  Thank you for helping us celebrate School Counselors’ Week with Ms. Muñoz! Next week, help us celebrate our fantastic bus drivers for Bus Driver Appreciation Week!

New Updates

Breakfast Reminder

Students are provided with free breakfast daily! Don’t forget to take advantage of this great opportunity! Find school menus here. Please keep in mind that these menus fluctuate daily based supply challenges, inclement weather, or other related factors.

Counselor Updates

Parents, this week students listened to the book "A Little Spot of Worry" and talked about the difference between USEFUL worries and SPINNING worries. Create a plan with your child of strategies they can use when they have a worry that won't go away. Remember, all feelings have a purpose - we just have to know what to do when we have that emotion.

Young Authors

Chatham County Schools are excited to bring back the Young Authors Writing program.  Students are invited to participate by writing stories that will be published on the CCS website. Students may also choose to enter their writing into a county wide competition. The attached flyer was sent home this week with students.  Email Mrs. Spell if you have questions,

PTA Announcements

Our students have been learning about ways to support the PTA thrift shop and the way their benefit our schools. The students watched a video created by Ms. Munoz about the jobs of the PTA volunteers. The video is linked here.https://drive.google.com/file/d/16vlFYY_MpFwupw1kBfJnUVXUsBoBf072/view?usp=drive_link

A flyer came home in take-home folders so parents can learn about them, too!  We encourage you to cut the flyer in half and share a copy with at least one other person who might be interested in volunteering or supporting the thrift shops by shopping or donating.

All families can help by participating in our Thrift Shop Supply Drive February 12-23!  One volunteer hour is earned for every $7.50 in supplies donated, and you can find needed supplies on our Amazon wishlist. Bring items to the school lobby collection tub and don't forget to include your receipt with your child's name and the grade level or department you want to support.  The grade level with the most donations will earn a popcorn party!

We'd love to fill our Thrift Shop work groups this month, too, so sign up here for February 21st or 25th.

Repeated Updates

Lost and Found

Are you missing a coat, lunchbox, water bottle, gloves, or shoes? Make sure to come and check the lost and found by the cafeteria before February 27th. After February 27th, all items will be donated to the PTA Thrift Shop.

Jump Rope for Heart

Our school is still having fun working together to raise money for the American Heart Association, promoting healthy hearts and continuing to learn about the value of physical activity! Our Challenge will continue for one more week, concluding on Friday, 2/16.

*** Last year we also earned over $800 in PE equipment thanks to YOUR generosity to the Kids Heart Challenge!!

Students can earn their own “Heart Hero Character” backpack key chains (and much more) this year by visiting  http://www2.heart.org/goto/PHSMariners  to sign up and raise money online, OR by using the mobile app (download the “AHA Schools” app)!  Just for signing up to save lives, your child will earn a FREE wristband!

Transportation Updates

Please find the attached information on the updated bus system that has replaced Here Comes the Bus.

Library Updates

Does your student need to exchange their library book?  Our library is open every morning from 7:40-7:55 and 9:00-10:30 for students to visit the library. Students can also exchange their books during their weekly library class.  Mrs. Spell will be sending home book check notes this week to inform students of what books they currently have checked out. Please check with your student to see if they have these books.
