PTA Updates

PHS families! We are so thankFULL for the teachers and staff at Perry Harrison that guide and care for our children each day! Please sign up to provide food for the baked potato bar we are planning for the staff meeting on 11/28. Non-perishable items can be dropped off at the front office any time before 11/28 at 12pm. Perishable items should be dropped off the morning of 11/27 or 11/28 (and labeled as perishable so staff knows to put them in the fridge). Contact Michele Cosgrove at 919-599-1092 or cosgrovemb@gmail.com with any questions. Thanks so much!

Student Services Team Updates

Winter Weather Clothing Drive

A community group is hosting a Winter Weather Survival Drive from now through December 21st. They are accepting donations of NEW or gently used winter wear for men, women, and children. Donations can be dropped off at any of the locations listed in the attached flyer.

If your family NEEDS Winter Weather Clothing, a distribution event will be held this Saturday, November 11th, from 10am-2pm at MOSAIC at Chatham Park. Breakfast and Lunch will also be available for attendees. A second distribution event is being scheduled for December but the date and location of that event have not been released.

Salvation Army Angel Tree

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program has reached capacity for the year, but there are several other programs still offering support. Note that these programs tend to cross reference their referral lists. Families are encouraged to apply for support from only one program to ensure there is adequate support for all families in need.

Toys For Tots (self-referral)

Toys for Tots is accepting applications through Thursday, November 30th. The application is available online at: https://pittsboro-nc.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/request-toys.aspx

Chatham County Social Services Christmas Wishes (self-referral)

Families can self-refer to the Christmas Wishes program through Chatham County Department of Social Services. This is a needs-based program for holiday gifts and support. Each eligible child will receive around $100 worth of gifts. Families receiving Food Stamps are very likely to meet the financial need threshold, but even if you do not receive benefits, you are welcome to apply if your family is in need of support. Reach out to your case worker or call 252-692-0332 to apply.

Shop with a Cop (staff referral)

This is a program sponsored by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department. Each child is partnered with a deputy for a shopping trip to Walmart to purchase some holiday wish list items. Each child has a $50 gift card to spend however he/she chooses. If you would like your kiddo to be referred for this event please reach out to your school social worker.
