Good Evening Mariner Families,

We had a great week this week! This week, we kicked off our One School, One Book campaign led by Ms. Spell! We exceeded our SOS Fundraising Goal, and participated in an amazing Dunk Tank! Finally, our SOS Fundraising committee treated staff to an amazing coffee truck, and opened opportunities to car line members!

We are thankful to all the work that our PTA and school are doing together! Teamwork makes the dream work!

One School, One Book
Have you heard about the chicken feather mystery? Everyone at Perry Harrison is very excited to solve the case of the missing chickens. We are all reading the book, The Trouble with Chickens, as part of our One School, One Book program. The program started on Monday with the viewing of our kickoff video (see the link below) and will last three weeks. Students and staff will be engaged in various activities to do along with the chapters they will read each week.

STEM Updates
Our yearly STEM Fair will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.  Judging will take place that morning, with family viewing in the evening from 5:30 - 7:00.  All students at PHE will participate by completing a project in their classrooms.  If you have a student who would like to enter his/her own individual or small group STEM project (no more than 3 students), please contact Dana Griffin via email,  dgriffin@chatham.k12.nc.us, for guidelines.

We are excited to welcome parent volunteers into our cafeteria during lunchtime beginning October 26th. Thank you for your patience as we established cafeteria norms and procedures. All cafeteria volunteers must be an approved volunteer with Chatham County Schools. Here is a reminder about our nutrition policy.

Remember, all students get free breakfast this year! Make sure you take advantage of this excellent opportunity!

PTA News
The Fall Festival is coming up on Saturday, October 21st, and you can support this low-cost family event by purchasing needed items from our Fall Festival Amazon Wishlist.  If you purchase a needed item from somewhere other than Amazon, please bring your contributions to the front office by October 18th.

Make plans to enjoy an afternoon of fun with fellow PHS families at the Fall Festival on Saturday, October 21 from 3-6pm behind the school. There will be face painting, an inflatable slide, crafts, giant bubbles, Mrs. Bowling’s famous obstacle course and more! Many activities are free, and all Perry Harrison students will receive 6 free tickets to use for some food items and activities. An additional ticket can be earned by bringing a non-perishable food donation for our Fuel Up program (suggested items here: http://fuelupkids.ch2v.com/content.asp?PageID=8 ). Look for more details on the flyer in your take home folders.

Staff Wish List
Another great way to treat our staff year-round is to stock the breakroom with needed supplies.  You can purchase items off the wishlist to be shipped directly to the school.  Your donations are appreciated!

Field Trips/Cafeteria
Please register for School Cash if you haven't done so- This will be used for field trips, outstanding lunch balances, and student fees.

Volunteer Opportunities
Parents and guardians, please make sure that you fill out a volunteer form. They must be completed each school year. Please find the link to the volunteer application in your email or on the Perry Harrison website. We look forward to partnering with parents and guardians again in various volunteer capacities as we have in the past.

You can find information and opportunities between weekly parent calls, on our Perry Harrison website, PTA Facebook page, and Twitter Page.

Have an amazing weekend!
