Good evening Mariner Families,

This is Ms. Doty with your Wednesday night Top 5 Things to know about upcoming school events.

  1. Our Perry Harrison Virtual DanceFit fundraiser will kick off in just 2 weeks on 9/21. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for technology to enhance virtual and in-person learning for our students and to strengthen our school community. This year, fundraising is more critical than ever to provide learning resources and fund our school budget. We’ve asked our friends at Boosterthon to power our fundraiser to make it more profitable, fun, and easy for everyone. We have worked closely together to ensure this event follows the safety and health guidelines of our school. Important participation details and a 3-minute video describing our upcoming event is in the emailed portion of this call and posted on our school’s website.

    Here’s what all students can get excited about
    - Fun, engaging character development lesson
    - A high-energy event to give our school a much needed boost of fun!
    - If your family feels it’s not in the position to financially support the school, that’s OK! Families can actually support our school by also SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and family online. Sharing IS supporting.

  2. Are you in need of childcare during the school day? The YMCA is currently enrolling students in their Scholastic Support Centers in various Chatham County locations. These centers are designed to support students and families with childcare and virtual learning. The hours are from 7:30am to 6:00pm and financial assistance is available to families who qualify. You can find out more information at or by sending an email to

  3. Every year each CCS school shares a letter with families about our Targeted Support status (TSI). Since we are still operating in a virtual setting, this letter will be shared on our school website. I will also share a link to the letter in the email version of this message. PHS-TSI Letter 2020.

  4. Zoom Links: To ensure security of our Zoom meetings, our teachers have been asked to change their zoom links and passwords weekly. This change will begin next week, beginning on Monday. Classroom teachers will be providing these links in their weekly communications to families and also on their Google Classrooms and SeeSaw platforms.

  5. Battle of the Books will begin next week. 4th & 5th grade students must sign up before this Friday in order to participate. Please visit the media center webpage for more information.
