Wykle Named New PIO

PITTSBORO — The Chatham County Board of Education on August 26, 2021, approved Ms. Nancy Wykle as the Public Information Officer, effective August 31. In this role, Ms. Wykle will create and enable clear and concise communication between Chatham County families and community and the school system. She will coordinate with news media, deliver timely messaging to stakeholders and act as an ambassador for the district.  

Wykle has a distinguished 22 years of career as a journalist and program manager, most recently as the publisher at The Daily Dispatch in Henderson, NC. Her communications experiences include designer, reporter, and editor. She has extensive knowledge of creating content and using social media to build community partnerships and bring together multiple sectors to invest in a common goal. Wykle created a program for another North Carolina school system to improve their public image and instill pride among students, families and staff by recognizing student and district achievements in print articles and on social media while promoting transparency.

Wykle was recognized by the Vance County Board of Commissioners in 2019 through a proclamation for her leadership initiatives designed to improve the morale and lives of Vance County residents. She currently sits on the Media Advisory Board at North Carolina State University and is chairwoman of the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce.
