Chatham County Board of education to further study driver education

PITTSBORO — N.C. House Bill 158 authorizes public schools to resume driver education programs in accordance with guidance issued by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. Public school districts are responsible for providing driver education to all school-age children of appropriate age who live within the county, including students who attend homeschools, private schools
and charter schools. Since a decision by the Chatham County Board of Education potentially is binding for non-public school students, board members decided via consensus to table their discussion of this until they have further information.
