District's schools closing early, inclement weather in forecast

Chatham County Schools will release students at 1:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020. The National Weather Service has just concluded its midday weather briefing for our area. The forecast, which is still uncertain, suggests that the most severe weather could impact our area as early as 4 p.m. Our goal is to allow additional time for bus riders, student drivers, families and employees (especially those who have to travel across counties) to arrive home safely should the storm’s track shift unexpectedly. All after-school activities are cancelled.

As a reminder, despite this early release, Chatham County Schools already exceeds the number of required hours of instruction mandated by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for the 2019-20 school year. No impact is anticipated for the district’s calendar as a result of the schedule modification.
