Chargers stuff stocking with Northwood noel

PITTSBORO — Christmas came early for Northwood High School Christmas Choir Competition music educator Matthew Hanson. His music program won the $5,000 top prize in the high school division of the MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM Christmas Choir Competition.

Northwood’s singers, along with students from schools in nearby counties, submitted a piece of holiday for the competition. But nobody's carolers crooned quite like Hanson's, who received more votes than their peers.

Northwood singers participated in a public performance and audio taping at Raleigh Improv. MIX 101.5 will broadcast that performance Christmas Day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
