PITTSBORO — The Chatham County Board of Education during its Dec. 9, 2019, meeting approved Dr. Larry Savage as the principal of Chatham Grove Elementary School, effective Jan. 6, 2020. Savage is principal of Siler City Elementary School, where's he's served since 2014.
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve as Chatham Grove Elementary's first principal," Savage said. "I am eager to get started building a school community that leads to outstanding student achievement and growth for each child entering our doors when we begin next fall. Having said this, it has been my greatest privilege to serve the students and families of Siler City Elementary, so this is definitely a bittersweet move for me that I sought in order to be closer to my family. I am confident, however, that the incredible students, teachers and staff at Siler City will continue their awesome tradition of success."
“Dr. Savage has established himself as a results-oriented principal, and he is well-positioned to help manage the heavy lifting that will come along with ensuring that Chatham Grove Elementary opens as smoothly as possible,” Chatham County Schools Superintendent Dr. Derrick D. Jordan said.
The interim principal at Siler City Elementary will be Tania Poston, who currently serves as the school’s assistant principal. Poston is a veteran educator of 22 years and has served in a variety of roles in this school system.
