Veteran educator Little gets nod to serve on state ESSA committee
RALEIGH — The North Carolina State Board of Education has appointed Carol Little to serve as a member of the North Carolina ESSA Committee of Practitioners from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. ESSA is short for the federally mandated Every Student Succeeds Act. Little is the executive director of federal programs and school improvement for Chatham County Schools (CCS), and her appointment would have her and the committee members reviewing proposed changes and updates to North Carolina's ESSA plan.
"It is no surprise that Mrs. Little has been tapped to serve in this capacity. She is well known at the state level for her work with Title I and her attention to detail with federal programs," said Dr. Amanda Hartness, the assistant superintendent for academic services and instructional support in CCS. "Mrs. Little is a great voice to have at the table advocating for our schools and students. She will represent Chatham well in this capacity."
