During the Board of Education meeting on July 24, 2017, the Chatham County Schools Board of Education heard from Mr. Ken Redfoot, Mr. Mike Hammersly, and Mr. David Taylor from Corley Redfoot Architects, Inc. regarding the schematic for the new high school located off Seaforth Road.
Funding for this project has previously been approved through the Capital Improvement Program through the Chatham County Commissioners. The new school is slated to open in the fall of 2021. The program continues to be updated by architects in conjunction with Chatham County Schools administrators to best meet the academic program needs of the schools now and into the future.
Corley Redfoot representatives indicated that the project remains on schedule.
This step is important because it is the precursor for the design and development phase. The architects are also looking at using Geothermal energy for HVAC for the building which will assist in meeting the Chatham County government policy of being LEED Silver certified.
