This Week @ NHS
This Week (6/1-5/5/2020) at Northwood High School
“Academics, Activities, Alumni, Arts & Athletics… This is Northwood High School”
Good evening Charger Families,
Tonight’s message contains several important elements regarding the end of the school year, please listen to the message in it’s entirety.
Following guidelines issued by the State Board of Education, all students in grades 9 - 11 will have the choice between Pass, Withdraw, or the highest numerical grade for each high school course completed during the spring semester. Tomorrow morning, your student will receive a Google Form in their Chatham County student email that will be used to collect their grade decisions for their courses.
We encourage you to complete this form with your student. Together, review their grades for each of their courses in Powerschool and ask teachers if you are unclear about the grades. Carefully complete each selection for your courses. Additional sections are included at the bottom of the survey if you are enrolled in more than 4 courses this semester. Students and parents will need to digitally sign the form. All forms need to be submitted by Tuesday, June 9 at 3 pm.
When our campuses closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, our educators continued providing instruction through at-home learning. It was a new way of teaching and learning for all of us. Please use the link (bit.ly/2AoDbSk) to access the survey about what you experienced with at-home learning. The survey closes June 11. Your feedback will help us plan for the 2020-21 school year and for further at-home learning. We appreciate your feedback, as well as your hard work toward a strong finish to the school year: bit.ly/2AoDbSk
Students who have not yet picked up their yearbook will have a second and final opportunity to do so on Thursday, June 4 from 11am-1pm.
Students in grades 9-11 who are planning on returning to Northwood in the fall will keep their Chromebooks over the summer. More information will come at a later date for students who need to return other items such as library books and calculators.
Northwood High School will offer summer school in select courses for current students in grades 9-12 June 15th - June 25th. Summer school is for students needing to repeat a course that they previously failed; it is not for students wanting to take a course for the first time. Students will work at their own pace to complete the course using Apex Learning online at home. Teachers will be available to monitor and assist students. Students should see their counselor for advisement on which course they should take to ensure they are taking the right course needed for promotion and graduation. There will be no fee for summer school. Please visit the Northwood website for more information and to register your student.
Have a safe and restful week,
