Sharon Pyrtle, AIG/Advanced Learning Teacher
Siler City Elementary offers an Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program to serve students who have been identified as gifted in Reading, Math, or both. We also look for students who may potentially qualify for AIG or who demonstrate the ability to perform above their grade level through available data, referrals, and observations. Those students may participate in the Talent Development Program in grades 3-5. Students in grades K-2 that demonstrate the ability to work above their grade level may develop their critical thinking skills through lessons with the AIG/Advanced Learning Teacher.
Mission Statement
The mission of Chatham County Schools’ AIG / Advanced Learning Program is to challenge all learners who perform or have the potential to perform at higher levels than their same-age peers and to support the social-emotional development of the advanced learners in our school community.
