    Moncure Family,

    I want to provide a few updates as we move into month three of at-home learning.  First, I'd like to again thank all students, teachers and parents for your continued cooperation and patience.  I know that you all have many unanswered questions regarding the remainder of this school year and how we will proceed into next school year.  I will continue to be in contact as I receive updated information and guidance on our plans moving forward.  Moncure staff continues to meet weekly to discuss how to overcome challenges and to also share the progress being made to reach all Moncure families to provide needed academic and emotional support.  We are also discussing strategies for next school year and the best methods for ensuring that student learning is on track as they progress through the next grade level.  Please continue to contact teachers or me with questions.  On behalf of the Moncure staff, please thank your child for their hard work and make sure they know how much they are missed.

    Thank you, Moncure community, for gifts, well-wishes and kind words provided to Moncure teachers and staff during teacher appreciation week.  We all feel very lucky to be part of this community and cannot wait to see students and families again. Thank you so much.


    Yearbooks have been ordered.  The timeframe on when books will be delivered is still uncertain.  Please visit to order a yearbook.  The code for Moncure School is YB1002223.


    Families with students in Math 1 and Spanish 1 will be receiving additional information on the high school course grading process.  Students in these classes my opt for a numerical grade or a pass/withdrawal.  Guidance regarding this decision will be provided shortly.


    A plan to allow parents to pick up student belongings is being created.  We still have full desks and lockers and I know many students have personal items still at school.  Once a plan is finalized, I will let you know.


    We are working on a plan on how to recognize our 8th graders prior to their entrance to high school.  Both virtual and in-person events are being considered.  We certainly want to recognize these students that have grown up within our walls, but student health and safety remains our top priority.  We will certainly find a way to celebrate our 8th graders.


    A third paper academic work-packet will be available to students on Tuesday, May 26.  All teachers will continue to provide online academic activities to all students through June 10therefore not all students will require a paper work-packet.  These packets are being created so that families with internet concerns will continue to have learning materials throughout the remainder of this school year.   If you have been unable to access your child's teacher's online activities and would like your child to have a paper packet for the dates of May 26 through June 10, please contact your child’s teacher by Tuesday, May 19 and request a packet be made for them.  Paper packets will only be made for these students.  We will not be able to collect this packet, but teachers will continue to be available to provide assistance on these activities as needed.   These packets will be available to be picked up from school on Tuesday, May 26.  Please check your child’s teacher’s online teaching platform on Monday, after 10AM, for any updates regarding any teacher-specific at-home learning updates.

    Any child that is 5 by August 31 may now be registered for kindergarten.  Kindergarten registration is online.  Please check the Moncure School website for the link or visit the link below: 




    School Nutrition Services of Chatham County Schools would like to share with our community that families may qualify for free or reduced-price meals during the COVID-19 pandemic and as it subsides. The additional resources provided through the approval process for free or reduced-price meals may be of benefit for families until respective household members return to work and become reestablished after these difficult times.

    This information is to provide you with avenues and steps to prepare for the weeks and months to come as the effects of the pandemic subside. If families applied in the past and were denied free or reduced-price meals, they should apply again, accounting for status changes within the household. Families may apply online at, or they could pick up an application at one of our open feeding sites or bus stops.

    Just a reminder that the Moncure School playground is closed due to COVID-19 regulations.

    WI-FI Hot Spot

    Moncure School currently has a wi-fi hot spot located outside of the school in the bus parking lot.  There are signs posted.  Please park in the parking spots closest to the building when accessing the wi-fi. Please feel free to access this at anytime to assist in At-Home Learning.


    If you are in need of a free or reduced lunch form for your children, copies are available at the front office.  Your child's homeroom teacher can also send these forms home with your child.  Please send a note or email your child's teacher if you would like a form sent home.  Also, you can apply online for free and reduced lunch forms here.

    You are now able to track your students lunch money account and make payments online.  If you are interested please visit this site and enroll!


    There will be a community meeting for a proposed housing subdivision on March 9 at 6PM here at Moncure School.  The development being proposed would be located off of Moncure School Road.

    -During both arrival (7:30AM) and dismissal (2:55PM) times school staff are stationed at the carpool lane to monitor students and provide additional safety.
    -Please use extreme caution in the traffic circle and in all parking lots.  
    -All parents need to drive and park in a single car line. Staff will escort children to/from the appropriate vehicles. 
    -If you need to park in the morning or the afternoon, please park in the side lot near the playground. 
    -Carpool students will wait for their rides under the front shelter area unless escorted by a staff member.  Students will sit on the front benches and wait quietly for their rides. Carpool students may exit the building from the front doors only. Students are not allowed to walk to the street or the staff parking lot to meet parents.
    -School personnel will unload and load from the right side only.  This places your child close to the walkway into the school and an accident is less likely to occur.
    -The carpool lane is considered a single lane road and passing is not allowed.
    -Parking on the left side of the front loop is NOT permitted between the hours of 7:30-8:00 a.m. and 2:30-3:00 p.m.
    -PLEASE NOTE: Parents are discouraged from parking in the lot in the afternoons and walking to the front of the school for their children. Without a barrier between the sidewalk and street, using the sidewalk is a safety issue when traffic is moving through the front loop. Traffic in the parking lot is also a concern. You are asked to drive through the car rider line to pick up your children. NO parents may park in the bus lot to pick up students.
