CHATHAM SCHOOLS CELEBRATE READ ACROSS AMERICA

Each year multiple schools in Chatham County Schools celebrate Read Across America that is scheduled near the March 2nd birthday of author Theodor Seuss Geisel.  Some schools, like J.S. Waters and Pittsboro Elementary, will have guest readers come and share their favorite books with classes.

Among the other activities are:

Chatham Middle will be celebrating Read Across America on Tuesday, March 5, and will recognize the day by having a guest reader come into each language arts class.

First graders at North Chatham School held a mini performance of Seussical, the musical, on Tuesday evening, February 26.  The concert featured lively sets and students wearing the traditional Dr. Seuss read and white hats.

Silk Hope School kicked off its annual Reading Rocks program to celebrate reading on Monday.  As usual members of the staff were involved in the assembly performance.

Each day of the week of February 25th Virginia Cross Elementary plans to air a segment on a specific Dr. Seuss book that coordinates with school-wide activities like a silly sock day with reading Fox in Socks .
