CELEBRATE READ ACROSS AMERICA
Each year multiple schools in Chatham County Schools
celebrate Read Across America that is scheduled near the March 2nd birthday of
author Theodor Seuss Geisel. Some
schools, like J.S. Waters and Pittsboro Elementary, will have guest readers
come and share their favorite books with classes.
Among the other
activities are:
Chatham Middle will be
celebrating Read Across America on Tuesday, March 5, and will recognize the day
by having a guest reader come into each language arts class.
First graders at North
Chatham School held a mini performance of Seussical, the musical, on Tuesday
evening, February 26. The concert
featured lively sets and students wearing the traditional Dr. Seuss read and
white hats.
Silk Hope School kicked
off its annual Reading Rocks program to celebrate reading on Monday. As usual members of the staff were
involved in the assembly performance.
Each day of the week of
February 25th Virginia Cross Elementary plans to air a segment on a specific
Dr. Seuss book that coordinates with school-wide activities like a silly sock
day with reading Fox in Socks .
