  • Moncure School Holds “A Salute to Veterans” Program

On November 10, 2016, Moncure School recognized veterans from the Moncure community. The veterans were welcomed by four of Mrs. Rapacuk’s third graders and escorted to special seating for the assembly. Each veteran received a small American flag lapel pin. Mr. Sudol led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. He then introduced our speaker, Joseph F Sudol COL (Ret) US Army. Mr. Joseph Sudol shared some historical remarks about veterans and the role they play in our freedom. Ms. Trinity Frick, a 7th grader, sand the national anthem. Lily McLean, a 7th grader, played a patriotic song on her flute. Mrs. Springle’s fourth grade class sang, “ My Country Tis of Thee”. Olivia Boggs ended the program with playing “Taps” on the trumpet. Nearly twenty veterans attended the ceremony. Mrs. Mace then led the veterans to the library for a reception. Thank you to Mr. Sudol, Mr. Hayes, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Mace, Mr. Campbell, Ms. Harkins and everyone who helped make this program a successful event.
