On Monday, your child will be bringing home a survey related to broadband internet service in Chatham County. The purpose of the survey is to support a Chatham County project to encourage broadband internet providers to expand their reach to every Chatham County resident. The survey was created by, and will be read by, the Chatham County Government Information Technology Team. Please take a moment to complete the survey and return it to our school by December 16th. Completing the survey will help Chatham County advocate for improved internet capabilities for all Chatham County residents.
Moncure's Holiday Concert will be held on December 12 @ 6PM. Mr. Hayes has sent home notification with all students participating in this year's concert. Please let us know if you have any questions.
PENGUIN PATCH HOLIDAY SHOP
The holidays are just around the corner, and the Moncure School PTA has arranged for an exciting program to come to Moncure School. From December 12-15, Moncure will host the Penguin Patch Holiday Shop. This shop is set up to allow your kids to purchase gifts for family and friends. Items will range in price from .25 cents to $10 dollars, so there will be plenty to pick from. A big thanks to the PTA for arranging this opportunity for our kids.
2016 PITTSBORO HOLIDAY PARADE
We are pleased to announce that Moncure School will once again be participating in the Pittsboro Holiday Parade on Sunday, December 11. We are in need of float decorators, float riders and chaperones. We also need volunteers to walk alongside the float and hand out candy to the crowds. Candy donations are greatly appreciated. The parade begins at 3PM. Riders and helpers need to be at the start site by 1:30. Please contact Jenn Chubb -email@example.com - if you our your child would like to be part of this year's parade. Float riders must have a signed consent from in order to be in the parade. Consent forms are due by December 5.

This is a continuous improvement process that is lead by the AdvancEd organization. AdvancEd is the largest community of education professionals in the world. They conduct rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems all over the world to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. On November 10, 2016, Moncure School recognized veterans from the Moncure community. The veterans were welcomed by four of Mrs. Rapacuk’s third graders and escorted to special seating for the assembly. Each veteran received a small American flag lapel pin. Mr. Sudol led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. He then introduced our speaker, Joseph F Sudol COL (Ret) US Army. Mr. Joseph Sudol shared some historical remarks about veterans and the role they play in our freedom. Ms. Trinity Frick, a 7th grader, sand the national anthem. Lily McLean, a 7th grader, played a patriotic song on her flute. Mrs. Springle’s fourth grade class sang, “ My Country Tis of Thee”. Olivia Boggs ended the program with playing “Taps” on the trumpet. Nearly twenty veterans attended the ceremony. Mrs. Mace then led the veterans to the library for a reception. Thank you to Mr. Sudol, Mr. Hayes, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Mace, Mr. Campbell, Ms. Harkins and everyone who helped make this program a successful event.
